July 1 -15 Issue
/photo.cms?msid=14469797 Join the Femina team on a tour of the world.
Some of you, I know, start reading Femina backwards. If so, you will know what lies ahead, in the rest of this issue.
It's our anniversary again, the 43rd one this time, and we decided to celebrate by - well, not a party, or a drink - but with some real honest-to-goodness travelling.
We drew lots to decide who went where, and to get you into the mood for some nifty travelling yourselves - whether to celebrate or just get away from it all - we came back with a clutch of destinations that should have your feet tingling and fingers itching to grab that suitcase and run.
Okay, okay, I know. July is NOT travel month. The rains are on, schools have just begun, it’s beginning to rain homework and textbooks and household chores that include keeping oneself dry...
But we’ve decided that reading about travel is the next best thing to the real thing.
So, while the roads outside turn into nullahs , and the frogs strike up their chorus, and umbrellas flower in their thousands, put your feet up, pull closer that plate of hot bhajiyas or packet of crisps, and let your mind wander.
Armchair travelling is easy on the purse, and lets your imagination take wing and makes every journey a dream one. And even better, you can flit from one end of the Earth to the other, not worrying about connections, bookings and fares.
Which is why, as we take you through the many destinations, some well-trodden, others exotic and unknown, we practically rearrange the globe, making neighbours out of countries as diverse as Australia and Singapore, Korea and Kenya.
After all, variety is the spice of travelling, and globetrotting is more fun without the usual borders.
Of course, I also hope you will draw up your own travel plans for your next getaway for the nearest date possible.
We've just made it easy for you.
For one, there is the choice. Cheap and cheerful, or luxurious; whatever your fancy. And whether you want to head into the wilds or pound concrete, searching for bargains, we have a destination for you.
There's more.
Take a peek at our travel planner for the rest of the year, and choose from the fixed menu of delights that are in store...
And just to ensure you look every bit the Femina woman you are, and your man looks his best too, there is a beauty and fashion section that will equip you for the demands of time and packing space that any journey makes.
SURPRISE! Seven is a lucky number, they say so we have seven easy-as-packing contests to give you a headstart. Pick up a pen, put on your thinking cap, and you might, with as much effort as it takes to munch on that bhajiya , win yourself a dream holiday. Travel through the issue and you’ll know more!
It's gonna be fun.
It's always fun to get away from the daily grind... however exciting our lives may be. And doing a special celebratory issue on travel was quite our way of spicing up our lives.
Let it spice up yours too.
Happy journeys.
