Kareena
Kapoor on the disposability of men, instant fame, and why being fat and frumpy
is not
‘in’
Talent:
Has to be inborn — it can never be learnt. I’m one of those
lucky few to have been born into a talent powerhouse and so I think it runs in
my blood.
Instant fame:
Doesn’t last for too
long!
Bollywood:
The place to
be! Something that I’ve grown up in, something I’ve fond memories
of.
Commodification of
actors:
I have a saying for that — ‘Any kind of publicity,
good or bad, is eventually publicity’. And you know, I’ve really
begun to believe
that!
Glamour:
Tiring.
It’s hard to keep up to a glamorous
image.
Body fascism:
I love
working out. I thrive on it because I also eat a lot. I think to stay fit is to
be cool. One should be health-conscious — being fat and frumpy is not
‘in’ anyway. Lean bodies are ‘in’. So I think most women
should work out rather than collecting a paunch, which is
disgusting.
Tricks of the
trade:
I pick up experiences from watching actresses of the past, from
watching films of good actors. That’s what I do! That’s what people
should do!
Big bucks:
A
complete necessity! Can’t do without
it!
Obsessions:
Food and
movies. I love movies, reading about movies, watching the latest movies...
I’m a complete foodoholic and movieholic!
Quirks:
Hey, I’m not a
weirdo!
Fears:
Losing the
people that I love — whether it’s friends, a loved one or my family.
I’m completely insecure about that. Otherwise I don’t fear anybody
in this world.
Sex appeal:
My
eyes (for me). In another person? Hmm... it’s very hard to find someone
else with sex appeal.
Sex
symbols:
It’s takes guts to do what they’re doing. And one
should credit them for making news, whether it’s through sex or talent.
Though, of course, it’s usually only
temporary.
Rivalry:
I think
it’s healthy — but only to an extent. As long as it doesn’t
get vicious, as long as it doesn’t start hurting other people, like
I’ve experienced and have been hurt by.
Men:
They’re much more
complex than women but never agree to that fact. And yes, they’re
constantly bitching!
Male
hotties:
Shahrukh Khan and Fardeen
Khan.
Dating:
I
wouldn’t know about that — I’ve never been on a date. I know,
it’s quite weird, but that’s because I was working through most of
my college years.
Love:
A
painful emotion because when you love someone, you always have to lose that
person at some point in time, whether through death or break up. So it’s
scary.
Marriage:
I could live
without a man. Apart from physically satisfying a woman, I think they add no
creativity at all, except for the tears and the torture that they bring.
Crazy dreams:
Marrying a
Mexican or a Spanish and settling down in Rio.
Kareena in a nutshell:
A
rockstar!
