Don’t eat yourself up with worry about ways to lose weight.
Just follow this 10-pointer to beat flab. By Sujata Rajpal
So you
have tried a million diets and other flab-fighting ways to get that to-die-for
figure and yet that magical formula for an hour-glass figure continues to elude
you. You sweat it out at the gym for hours on end; you survive on a cucumber or
watermelon diet, but yet nothing seems to budge! The only way to lose weight is
not by keeping your mouth shut (food is ‘for your eyes only’) and
doing sit-ups till you collapse. You need to adopt a few healthy habits. Read

1 Mind set
The success of your weight/waist reduction
programme fairly depends on your keenness and attitude. Many people complain
that however much they may exercise or control their diet, nothing really works.
Actually, if you have the will, there is a way to win the battle of the bulge.
2 Set reasonable goals
Looking to losing 10 kg in three months
when you have never bothered about diet control or exercised, is an unrealistic
and unreasonable goal. An exercise or diet programme which is either too
demanding or doesn’t suit your lifestyle is a failure right from the word
go. You must aim to reduce weight gradually, not quickly.
3 Get
enough exercise
Whatever your age, make exercise an integral part of your
daily routine. Swimming, tennis, brisk walking, aerobics — it can be
anything. There is no better way to whittle down your waist than household
chores. Besides, anything routine is boring. Try different exercises to break
the monotony.
Every once in a while go for a swim or play a game of
tennis instead of jogging. Set a workable pace when you begin a new exercise
— going from a 10-minute routine and gradually increasing it to a 30 or
45-minute one.
4 Do not be a couch potato
Certain lifestyle
changes are a must if you don’t want to hide behind your fat. You may be
exercising your butt off at the gym, but if you are sedentary, you stand to gain
more than lose. With more and more people at desk jobs nowadays, it’s
difficult to fit in some exercise, let alone walking; recreation time is limited
to surfing the net or watching TV, making obesity a way of life.
If
you want to stay slim, make a lot of moves — get up and get yourself a
glass of water when thirsty; take to the stairs instead of riding the elevator
every time.
