Juice It Up

|
Succulent,
ripe and full of vitamins, these red fruits are sure to trigger your
senses
Strawberries
Few
fruits offer sensory satisfaction as much as strawberries. A member of the rose
family, its eyes are great for exfoliation, the juice has astringent properties
and the pulp delivers vitamins that plump up your skin. Try this berry
mask:
3-4 large ripe strawberries
1 tablespoon fresh cream
1
tablespoon honey
Mash the strawberries or puree them in a blender. Add
cream and honey to the puree to form a thick mixture. Apply on your face and
neck. Avoid the area around the eyes, and leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse off,
using cotton pads dipped in water.
You can use yoghurt instead of cream to
balance the pH of the skin. If you have sensitive skin, swap strawberries for
raspberries. The yoghurt-raspberry combo is less likely to cause irritation to
sensitive
skin.
Beetroot
During
winter, stay away from lipsticks that are drying. Instead try this
vitamin-enriched tinted homemade lip balm.
1/4 cup vegetable or nut
oil
4 teaspoons of beeswax
1 teaspoon honey
2 teaspoons of
beetroot juice
Place the oil and beeswax in a bowl. Place the bowl in a pot
of boiling water. Keep the water boiling till the beeswax has melted. Remove
from heat and whip with an electric beater until creamy. Add honey and beetroot
juice; whip some more. Store in small glass jars. This beetroot lip balm makes
your lips look glossy and soft and taste just
delicious!
Raspberries
They
restore natural elasticity, minimise wrinkles and give a glowing complexion. Use
crushed raspberries in a body pack to firm up or pour a cup full of its juice in
your bath water for an invigorating body wash. Raspberries help refresh and
rejuvenate your skin by removing impurities which make the skin dull and
lifeless. Try this raspberry cleanser:
1 tablespoon honey
1 egg
white
1 teaspoon glycerin
4 tablespoons of crushed raspberries Enough
flour to form a paste
Smooth over face and throat. Leave on for 10 minutes.
Rinse off with warm
water.
Pomegranate
Rich
in iron, potassium and vitamin C, pomegranate juice is a great ingredient to
have in face and body washes. Fill up your tub, pour two cups of the juice and a
few spoons of bath salts, and let your body soak in the goodness. Or, try this
gentle exfoliating treatment for your face. However, use pomegranate juice
sparingly if you have dry and irritable skin.
1/2 cup chilled pomegranate
juice
1/2 cup pomegranate pulp (leftover after squeezing the juice
out)
Use cotton balls to apply the juice on your face and neck. Let sit for
three minutes. Next, take the pulp and rub all over your face. Rinse thoroughly
with lukewarm water. Do this once a week for normal skin and twice a week for
oily skin.
