Sweat It Out With Shilpa Shetty
[FEMINA ]

/photo.cms?msid=7853 Many a woman would give her diamonds and Porsche to get as bodacious as Shilpa. But let us tell you that it is no frenetic gymming that makes her the figure she is. It’s all in the genes, she says. Here is what she does and doesn’t to stay bodylicious:

Tips
Respect your body and don’t take it for granted! Staying fit is more important than looking beautiful.

• I haven’t worked out in a while (I used to workout four times a week), but am gonna get back to it as soon as I set up my in-house gymnasium.

• I am not really an active person; just genetically blessed, so have always been happy with my body.

• Usually I do squats, lunges, push-ups, calf raises and ab-crunches; mainly free hand workouts. I get workout tips from my co-stars, Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt, who are fitness freaks themselves.

• I love doing squats. I’ve always felt my legs are too skinny, so I concentrate more
on my lower body.

• I would love to do tai-chi and yoga is something I would get into only after I turn 40. However, I do meditate regularly.

• I am basically a seafood person, but have now turned vegetarian (actually egg-tarian). I’ve never understood why people yucky poo ghee; I put it into just about everything that I eat.

• My breakfast is usually six almonds, a cup of tea, biscuits and papaya. My lunch and dinner mainly consist of rice, veggies and ‘dal’.

• I never eat in-between meals. I don’t deny myself anything, but if I have eaten heavy or have binged on something, I have this ‘food-o-meter’ in me which automatically turns on and helps me say ‘no’ to food, even to desserts which I rarely ever give a miss.

• I don’t drink alcohol. I tank up on hot water through the day to help flush out the toxins.

• While I have no problem areas that need high-velocity attention, what’s funny is that when I put on weight it goes straight to my face. So, to keep a check on my weight I always wear a gold chain on my waist. And if it gets tighter and starts moving upwards, I know I’m putting on weight and so I stop feeding my face.

• For the past four to five years my weight has been constant at 60 or 62 kg. But my ultimate fitness goal would be to look my best at 50.
