Hair And Now
Dump the hairdresser and adopt these diva hairstyles without a snip of the scissors, says Jeena Mitra-Banik
Gone are the days when wigs were used just to cover baldness. These days, they are super hit fashion alternatives, a rage on the world scene. As easy to use as a comb clip, a wig is a hygenic, non-fussy, manageable way to change your look without losing your precious locks. Read on, and watch how it transforms these girls into gorgeous glam babes.
Devdutta
Prabir selects almost a doll's wig for this pretty face. He uses a blonde and gold shaded wig with different levels of in-curls. He uses a skin tone base and tops it with some translucent powder. For Devdutta's eyes he uses a brown skin tone eye-shadow, with a hint of silver blended in and white strokes drawn from the sides. For a blush-on, he uses a skin highlighting shade and for her lips, he uses a combo of colours to get this peach-light-brown shade topped with L'Oreal lip-gloss.
Sonali Saigal
Prabir's set out to provide Sonali's baby face with some oomph. He first used a skin tone base, topped with some translucent powder, and drew out her eyes with a brown pencil and a green one over it for effect. A dash of mascara did the final trick for her eyes. He used a pink blush-on and a bright red lipstick topped with a fruity red lip-gloss from L'Oreal.
Prabir selected a short boyish looking hair-do with a heavy front and tapered sides and back to give her face a longer look.
Tina Mukerji
Prabir selects a long black hair wig with razor edges for that 'come hither' exotic look. To complete her look, he proceeds by first using a Sheseido illuminating cream on her face, topping it with a Lancôme moisturiser, followed with a creamy tan base and then a MAC bronzing powder. He uses black eye-pencil to mark out her eyes, a tan eye-shadow and a brown shade over her eyes. He uses a skin tone blush-on and a glossy tan brown lipstick.
Sudipta
Prabir selects a soft lustrous red haired wig with curls to play down Sudipta's chubby cheeks and make her face look chiselled. He massaged her face with a skin tone base topped with some MAC translucent powder. To play up the fashion quotient, Prabir also used some orange to red eye-shadow on her upper eyelids and the highlight area, and a matte gold eye-pencil to thickly line her eyes and extend the corners in opposite directions towards her temple. He brushes on an orange blush-on, and uses a fruity orange lipstick topped with L'Oreal transparent lip-gloss.
Priyanka Nandi
She's a wide-eyed girl with a big forehead and wide face. Prabir decides to glamorise this conventional face with a red and reddish-brown streaked long wig with different level of razor ends.
For Priyanka's face, Prabir uses a skin tone base and tops it with a translucent powder. He uses a mix of brown and silver over her eyes and a lot of mascara. For her lips, he does the fruity trick again, and uses a blush-on over her cheeks, blending it well into the base to contour her wide face and give a high cheekbone effect. A dab of MAC shimmer powder gives her all the glimmer and glam!
Sreshtha Pal
Shreshta is naturally endowed with curly shoulder length hair, but for this shoot, Prabir chose a black wig, which is cut short; the outer hairline cups her lean face, giving her a new sporty look - an international favourite.
For her face, Prabir uses the blush-on as a blotch on her cheeks and plays with a hint of green and lots of silver on her eyes. To contour her eyes, he uses a Lancôme eye-pencil. For her lips, he goes for matte reddish brown.
