Have you got the guts to be fashionably different? asks Jeena Mitra Banik
When he's at work,
Prabir Kr De is a very exciting man to be around. It's fun to observe how effortlessly he can transform a bad hair day into a good one - provided his muse is fashionable enough to carry off his wild ideas with aplomb. Here, he experiments with Amrita and Sheena, first giving them two basic looks. He only makes changes in their hairstyles in order to show how hair alone can change the way one looks.
On Amrita's bad hair day, Prabir chose some rather fashionable, unkempt hairstyles. For Sheena, who is naturally blessed with silky hair, he gave the clean plain Jane a dash of style.
Faces
Prabir wanted a nearly-nude look to Amrita's make-up.He smudged earthy pink and peach colours onto her lids and outlined her eyes in deep brown to bring them into focus. A dash of blusher and fruity lipstick underplayed the sharpness of her features and gave her a very dreamy, feminine look.
For Sheena, Prabir used a palette of browns and black, smudged effectively to highlight her eyes and play up their expressiveness. Some blush on the apples of her cheeks and a light lipstick were all he used to brighten up her otherwise demure visage.
Little-girl-turned-rock-star! For this look, Prabir opened out Amrita's curls and held back the front few strands with an invisible hair-band, using floral bejewelled clips to camouflage the hair-band. Amrita has the attitude and earlier unsuspected oomph factor to carry out this demure yet come-hither look.
The final look is fascinating! Here, Amrita's hair was left open and partitioned off into several sections from the ends, not the scalp. These bunches of hair were then tied with colourful string at different levels. The hairstyle looks like an integrated whole, while the colourful small bows all around the head give it a teenage touch.
For her second look, Prabir sectioned Sheena's hair from back to front at different levels instead of in a mundane middle or side parting. He then tied these sections into several ponytails, making them fall across the two sides of her face. A very baby doll look, but with a lot of punch.
For this look, Prabir rounded off hair from the front of Sheena's head into small sections. He then twisted these strands of hair together and pinned them into small buns at the base of her head, leaving the rest of her hair to fall elegantly around her face. He then added glitzy bows to the buns to jazz up the baby-doll look.
