Summer calls for stripes galore

Exotica!
Vacation paradises, cultures, flora and fauna come alive in this collection by Wills Lifestyle. Fruity hues, jewel colours and nomadic shades - they have it in their range. Most of them are teamed with frothy whites. Cotton and linen rule the fabric brigade. A few fabrics also get decorated with geometric patterns like blocks and polka dots!

Cool Waters
It trickles, it flows, it gushes. Water can be the treasure trove of life or it can cause havoc. Satya Paul used this theme to create sophisticated silhouettes in clear whites, gleaming silver, sparkling gold, soothing blues, muddy greens, oceanic navy, dark grey and black. One could find ruffles for waves, pearls for foam, embroidery for ripples, crystals for drops on flowy chiffons, sheer georgettes and silky crepes. This collection, aptly named Aqua, was showcased at a fund raising event for the orphans of the tsunami victims, held at Nandiya Gardens, the ITC Maurya Sheraton and Towers, New Delhi. The evening sizzled with the presence of Jaya Bachchan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Boman Irani, Jas Arora and our very own Pond's Femina Miss Indias.
With Prasad Bidappa's choreography, Ambika Pillai's on-the-models-beauty act and Raghav Sachar's saxophone playing in the backdrop, the event sure made an impact.

A Touch Of The Dark Continent
Bring colour into the workplace with this striped print dress, its print, cut and styling harking back to African folkloric influences. In fact, the new Spring Summer 2005 Collection from Globus runs on the `go native' theme. And there's nothing in-your-face about these influences - the look borrows features like ornate fabrics, embroidery and primitive patterns, embellishments and beads, mirror work, batik and tie-day printing, obi sashes and macramé knotting to achieve an eclectic mix that makes us feel we have seen it before, but are not quite sure where. On offer are ponchos, cropped or wrapped shirts, blousons, figure-hugging jerseys and dresses. Priced at Rs 245 onwards
Available at Globus outlets countrywide
