I wash my face twice a day with a moisturising soap like Dove or a face wash, depending on what’s available and is least time-consuming. The pollution in Pune is terrible, you literally end up with a black face! Then it’s St Ives Peaches and Cream. This is stuff I have been using for years and I swear by it. Haircare is again a St Ives shampoo and a Flex conditioner. There’s this Biotique Musk Root therapeutic Pack for Hair and Scalp on my bathroom shelf. It works wonders... only I haven’t had the chance to use it much! I never step out without my Biotique Sunflower Lip Balm. An absolute must-do is loads of deo — Total, Marks & Spencers, anything will do, I am paranoid about body odour, mine or others! When I have the time (like once a year), I apply a face mask. I choose from a Biotique Milk Protein Pack and a Shahnaz Oxygen Skin Rejuve-nating Mask and a homemade Multani mitti, honey and rose water one. If only I could find the time to do all of this more often!

I am a beauty buff and simply love all things that make us women feel and look beautiful. Also, since I love lecturing my colleagues and friends on the dos and don’ts of skin care, I must have a routine, right? So, I will not step out of the house without wearing sunscreen. C’est de rigueur if I want to keep my skin from ageing and to prevent pigmentation. And would do anything to keep that ghastly zit from surfacing, like applying stinky aloe vera gel to keep skin cool at all times. Some other musts are my Revlon Kohl and a lipstick. Kohl is an absolute essential, rather like grapes to wine! And lipstick, I need to wear lipstick all the time: it protects my lips and keeps them looking plumped up and sexy.

I have recently acquired a ‘beauty regime’ (because I am terrified of our beauty editor who sneaks up and touches my cheek when I least expect it and God help me if my skin doesn’t feel smooth to the touch.) I apply moisturiser and sunscreen after a shower in the morning (ok, ok, not every day, once in while). Evening make-up consists of lipstick (Chambor or Elle) and occasionally, an eyeliner. I love fragrances (ah, now you’re talking) — CK One, CK Be and Davidoff are all-time favourites. I will probably be dead by the time you read this (for not caring about my skin and body enough!) but I promised I would be honest.

I am not really into nightly beauty routines, but I do clean my face every evening with Neutrogena’s Pore Refining Cleanser. A Clarins Moisture Quenching Hydra Balance Lotion hydrates my skin. I usually carry Lancôme’s Juicy Tubes in Framboise. Gives a shimmery pinky tone to my lips and is good for both day and night wear.

My must do’s include washing my face four times a day with a moisturising soap like Nivea or Dove. I’m very particular about brushing and braiding my hair morning and night. For an evening out, I wear a black mascara and mute lipstick. In Chennai, it’s too hot all year to wear any make-up. I’ve also never been interested in make-up. I am finicky about my feet, so I get plenty of pedicures to pamper them. A must-have is a bottle of perfume when I travel. Samsara by Guerlain is a favourite.
