Girls With Curls

It's time to ditch that straightening iron because flirty, wavy hair is the only kind of 'do' you need this season to complete your look. Easy to achieve, with minimal styling time and low maintenance, especially if you've been blessed with wavy or curly hair, curl control is in. This look, which screams 'casual messy' or 'sophisticated bed-head' can be worn to work as well as play.

To get party-night vixen waves, apply styling mousse to freshly shampooed hair when it is semi -dry. If you are using regular curlers, blow dry on 'cool' or use large heated curlers to get this look. Before taking them off, lightly spritz on hair spray. Leave your curls loose and run your fingers smoothly through them. Brushing your hair will only open them out. If your hair starts unfurling during your night out, lightly scrunch your hair with wet hands. This reactivates your hair spray.

Love sexy curls that frame your face? Just tie your hair up the way you want. Next, loosen a few strands to frame your face. Dampen them. With a little mousse on your fingers, coil the locks tightly. Secure them with bobby pins. Then blow-dry or simply leave on to dry. Let down and gently separate with fingers for a more natural wave.

Girls with curls tend to be rough on their locks, brushing or combing hair forcefully. To avoid knots, use a detangling spray. When wet, comb hair with a wide-toothed comb. This will help in two ways- the detangling spray will help condition the hair and guard it from knotting. Combing it when wet will encourage your curls to
remain bouncy.

When washing your hair, always remember to use a good conditioner. While applying conditioner, scrunch the hair in the style you want. After your shower, use a good curl enhancing product and scrunch hair. You can then dry the hair by adding a diffuser nozzle to your hair dryer. If you have naturally curly hair, avoid brushing it altogether. Just apply a little gel, scrunch the hair and allow it to dry naturally.

For those who have telephone- wire-like tight curls and would like a more relaxed wave, try an anti-curl relaxing treatment. You could try this at home by using mousse on freshly washed hair, big heated rollers, and a touch of shine booster. Try a glossing pomade to add lustre to your locks.

For that innocent yet flirty look, first add some gel to your hair to maximise curl definition and movement. Then, pin the front section of your hair to the crown of the head with a pretty clip or two and let your hair cascade down your back.
It's guaranteed to put any angel to shame.

Curly hair requires a lot more TLC than straight hair, though it might seem coarse and tough. Oil and re-hydrate your locks regularly. A mixture of olive and coconut oil massaged onto the scalp can help. If your hair is too dry add an egg yolk to the oil. Leave it on for an hour and wash it off.

Naturally wavy hair tends to have an open molecular structure. If you plan to colour your hair, it's recommended that you deep condition it twice a week for at least three weeks before colouring. The more you condition your hair, the longer the colour will last. So keep conditioning your hair even after it has been coloured.

And last, but most important, the greatest curl killer is humidity. You don't want frizzy hair a la Monica, from F.R.I.E.N.D.S. in the humidity. So use a good anti-frizz serum to smoothen out the frizz.
